The De Pere Police Department in the Green Bay suburb of De Pere, Wisconsin is looking for a rather notable vehicle these days, one that seems like it should be easy to spot: a C6-generation Chevrolet Corvette convertible done up in a full Lightning McQueen livery straight out of Disney's Cars franchise.
As first posted to Facebook and then covered by some local news outlets, the police didn’t explain why they were looking for the number 95 'Vette, but we suspect it isn’t to compliment them on their driving ability.
View Price on AmazonThe car itself looks like a typical C6 convertible, apart from the Lightning McQueen livery, and if the comments on the post are any indication, no one is turning Lightning McQueen in. We’d make our own jokes, but the folks on De Pere’s Facebook page already have things covered.
“I saw him going west on Route 66,” one said. “Did you check Radiator Springs?” reads another comment. “I think we’re all OK being honest and saying we aren’t snitching on Lightning McQueen,” another says.
If we had to guess, the owner of this pursued Corvette may have already removed the wrap to fade back into society as a typical C6. Whatever shenanigans they were up to were attention-grabbing enough that the local police felt it necessary to make a post about them, so there’s no better time to retire the look.
Road & Track reached out to the police department to learn of any updates on the case, but as of this article’s publishing, the De Pere Police hasn’t responded with comment. Additionally, there are no follow-up social posts yet, but we’ll be sure to update this story should further news break concerning Wisconsin’s own Lightning McQueen.
