The Volkswagen Group is reportedly planning to introduce a US-made pickup truck in the American market by 2030, according to a new report from Reuters. The German automaker aims to increase its market share in the US by launching a pickup truck that will be built in the United States. Volkswagen has already been selling a pickup truck, the Amarok, in European, Australian, African, and Latin American markets since 2010.
According to the report, the new pickup truck will be designed specifically for the US market and will be built at Volkswagen's Chattanooga factory in Tennessee. The factory currently has the capacity to produce the truck after the decision to cease building ID.4 EVs there. The pickup model is expected to hit North American markets by the end of the decade.
