Rivian has finally launched the configurator for its highly anticipated R2 electric SUV. With over 200,000 reservations already logged, the excitement is palpable. While customers can now configure their dream R2, they'll have to wait until 2027 for the best color option.
The R2 configurator is now live on Rivian's website, allowing customers to choose from various features, packages, and colors. The base price for the R2 starts at $48,490 for the Standard trim, while the Premium trim starts at $53,990. The Performance trim, which includes the Launch Package, starts at $57,990.
The Launch Package adds Autonomy+, Tow Package, a special key fob, and the ability to purchase Launch Green paint. A fully-equipped Performance with Launch Package will cost $62,745. Other paint colors, except for silver, will add $1,000 to $2,000 to the price. Forest Green, for example, won't be available until late 2026, and Rivian's beautiful Borealis purple, exclusive to the Performance trim, won't be available until 2027.
Rivian's Dark interior comes standard, but customers can upgrade to Coastal Cloud for $1,000 when it becomes available later this year for all trims except the Standard. The Standard trim comes with 19" wheels, while the Premium trim comes with 20" bi-color carbon wheels. The Performance trim offers a $2,000 upgrade to 21" Liquid Tungsten wheels.
Rivian will also offer a compact spare package, including a jack and wheel chocks, for $755. This is a unique feature, as most automakers no longer offer a spare tire. The R2's production has officially kicked off, with deliveries starting for employees. Customers can expect to receive invitations to configure their R2s starting in June.
