Porsche has officially discontinued the Taycan Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo due to low sales. The decision comes as the company prepares to launch the updated electric Taycan for 2027. According to a statement to KBB, the reason for the discontinuation is due to low sales, with a Porsche spokesperson confirming the news to Motor1.
In 2023, Porsche sold 7,570 Taycans in the US, but sales have been declining ever since. In 2024, the company sold 4,747 Taycans, and in 2025, sales dropped to 4,142. This year, Taycan sales are down, with only 607 cars sold through the first three months, compared to 1,019 in early 2025. Offering three different body styles on a low-selling car doesn't make sense, especially as customers sour on electric vehicles.
Motor1's Take: It's a sad day when any wagon dies, but killing two at the same time seems a bit cruel, even if the reason makes sense. Porsche once offered a Panamera wagon but killed it due to low sales. Now, the company sells no wagons in the US.
Porsche's decision to discontinue the Taycan Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo is likely a strategic move to focus on more profitable models. The company will continue to produce the Taycan, but with a more streamlined lineup. As the electric vehicle market evolves, Porsche will likely reassess its product offerings to meet changing consumer demands.
