Pilot, the largest travel center network in North America, has reached a significant milestone in its efforts to provide fast charging for electric vehicles. The company now has over 300 EV charging stations across the United States, representing a 50% increase in less than a year. As of September last year, Pilot's travel centers had just over 200 charging stations, but that number has since grown substantially.
In the first half of this year, Pilot added 50 new charging sites across 25 states, bringing the total number of stations to 301, according to the company's website. Furthermore, the total number of individual charging stalls now stands at nearly 1,300, as reported by EV charging data platform Paren. This expansion is great news for EV drivers who enjoy road-tripping, as Pilot's travel centers are strategically located along major interstate travel corridors and offer amenities such as well-lit bays, free Wi-Fi, on-site restaurants, and groceries.
View Price on AmazonPilot and Flying J locations are equipped with 350-kilowatt EVgo dispensers, each featuring two charging cables. If both cables are in use, the maximum output is split between the two vehicles, but if only one vehicle is charging, it can utilize the full power of the stall. Additionally, Pilot supports Plug-and-Charge technology, allowing drivers to simply plug in and start a charging session, provided they have set up a payment method in advance.

This year, Pilot has installed new chargers in locations such as Chicopee, Massachusetts, and Ponce de Leon, Florida, while also modernizing 18 existing locations across 13 US states and Canadian provinces. Back in 2022, Pilot Company, GM Energy, and EVgo partnered to install up to 2,000 fast chargers at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J locations in the US. The first stations went online at the end of 2023, and the network has since expanded rapidly, with over 130 stations in more than 25 states by March 2025. Now, Pilot has officially surpassed the halfway mark toward its goal.
However, Pilot is not the only company expanding its EV charging offerings. Walmart has also accelerated its efforts, with over 600 charging ports already operational.
