Nissan's sedan lineup is about to be reduced to one as the company prepares to discontinue the Altima sedan. According to the brand's chief product officer in North America, the Nissan Altima has been living on borrowed time, and its demise is expected after the 2025 model year.
The Nissan Altima has been a long-running family sedan, but its sales have been declining in recent years. Despite its expected demise, Nissan announced that the Altima would return for 2026. However, based on the comments of the company's head of product planning and senior vice president for North America, the Altima likely won't make it to the 2027 model year.

While Nissan has cancelled plans to build two EV sedans in the United States, the company doesn't expect a surge in volume for the electric sedan segment until the end of the decade, at which point EVs and batteries should be a lot more affordable.
