Porsche's electric supersedan, the Taycan Turbo GT, lapped the Nurburgring 12 seconds faster with the newly available performance package from Manthey Racing. The Weissach package, which is the performance-enhancing package from Porsche, wasn't enough for the speed freaks who want even more from the already extreme Taycan Turbo GT, so the folks at Manthey Racing stepped in to create the most track-focused version of Porsche's electric supersedan.
The Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach and Manthey packages circled the Nurburgring in 6:55.553, beating its previous lap time by 12 seconds and becoming the fastest production-spec electric executive car to circle the famous 12.9-mile circuit. The Manthey kit includes a lot of changes to the car's aerodynamics, tripling the amount of available downforce, allowing the car to reach its 192-mph top speed and achieving 1631 pounds of negative lift.
The kit also features distinctive rear aerodisc wheels, an enormous rear wing, revised front and rear diffusers, and underbody upgrades that further improve the car's aerodynamics. The forged 21-inch wheels are wider than on the regular Taycan Turbo GT and are lighter too. A set of street-legal track tires is also an option. Stopping power comes from a pair of bigger front rotors and upgraded brake pads. Porsche also says the Active Ride suspension has been retuned, along with the steering and all-wheel-drive systems.
The Taycan Turbo GT's dual-motor powertrain has also been modified. The pulse inverter now has a max current of 1300 amps, up from 1100, which helps raise the car's output. While it still peaks at 1019 horsepower in Launch mode, peak torque rises by 22 to 936 lb-ft in the same setting. Standard and Attack modes also see higher power totals of 804 and 978 horses, respectively.
