Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash that left the motorcycle dangling above the intersection. This is not an image from the latest installment of the Mission: Impossible movie franchise. Nor is it A.I.-generated. This is a real scene from an automobile wreck in Canada after a BMW 3-Series crashed into a motorcycle and launched it nearly 20 feet into the air, where it became stuck on a traffic signal above an intersection.
According to a report by WDSU NBC 6 News, the BMW driver was unharmed while the bike rider suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The crash occurred on Scott Road in North Delta, British Colombia, about 20 miles southeast of downtown Vancouver. According to police, speed was a factor in the crash, although it is not mentioned if it was the car or the bike that may have been speeding.
The car appears to be an E90-generation 3-Series, while the bike looks like a brand-new 2027 Suzuki GSX-R1000 40th Anniversary Edition. The powerful sportbike is capable of rapid acceleration thanks to a 4-cylinder DOHC engine and a curb weight of about 450 pounds. Assuming the driver was another 170 pounds, that would mean the force of the crash was severe enough to launch over 600 pounds worth of bike and rider into the overhead traffic signal.
On their Instagram page, Delta Firefighters IAFF Local 1763 wished everyone involved a full recovery. They also took a moment to remind people to slow down, stay alert, and practice road safety at all times.
As shocking as the photos are, this crash is a brutal reminder of just how quickly things can go wrong when speed and powerful vehicles mix on public roads. Modern performance machines are engineering marvels, but they can lead to incredible crashes when something unexpected happens. The fact that the motorcycle ended up suspended above the intersection almost seems impossible, yet it happened in an instant. Thankfully, no lives were lost.
