A new contender has entered Europe's supercar scene, hailing from an unlikely country: Portugal. Meet the Adamastor Furia, the debut model from Adamastor, a new Porto-based manufacturer with a clear mission: bring race-proven technology to public roads.
But this is far more than just a design concept. The Furia is the foundation for an ambitious motorsports program with the ultimate goal of competing in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. The street-legal version commands a hefty price tag of $1.9 million (€1.6 million), which climbs to nearly $2.3 million after European taxes.
Engineered for Performance
Developed from the ground up, aerodynamics were a core focus from day one. Its full carbon fiber bodywork conceals serious engineering, including two massive Venturi tunnels in the underbody that generate the bulk of its downforce. This innovative approach minimizes the need for large, disruptive wings, allowing for a sleek and clean design that's still incredibly effective.
Its dimensions scream 'hypercar': measuring 15 feet long, over 7.2 feet wide, yet standing just 3.3 feet tall. The result is a low-slung, wide-stanced machine built for high-speed stability. The two-seat cockpit is built into a carbon fiber monocoque chassis with an integrated roll cage—a design lifted straight from professional race cars.
One of the Furia’s standout features is its feather-light dry weight of just 2,315 pounds, achieved through the extensive use of carbon fiber and a relentless focus on weight reduction. It features a classic mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, optimized for impeccable balance and razor-sharp handling.
A fully adjustable double-wishbone suspension at all four corners allows drivers to fine-tune the car's setup for the road or track. Stopping power comes from a high-performance AP Racing brake system, featuring six-piston aluminum calipers up front and four-piston units in the rear.
The Heart of a Legend
Tucked behind the cockpit sits the heart of the beast: a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 sourced from Ford Performance—the very same engine that powers the legendary Ford GT. In the Furia, it's tuned to produce over 650 horsepower and a stout 421 lb-ft of torque that's available early in the rev range. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a race-derived Hewland sequential gearbox, controlled by paddle shifters.
Adamastor claims the Furia can rocket from 0 to 62 mph in around 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed exceeding 186 mph in its street configuration.
Adamastor will offer the Furia in two flavors: a road-legal version and an even more hardcore track-only model. The track version generates a staggering 3,968 pounds of downforce at 155 mph, signaling the company's serious intent to challenge the established titans of the supercar world. Production is highly exclusive, limited to just 60 units, with each car hand-assembled in Portugal by a dedicated team of specialists. This boutique approach ensures meticulous quality control and allows for extensive customer personalization.
The Furia represents a bold vision for Adamastor: to forge a world-class supercar that embodies cutting-edge technology, breathtaking performance, and Portuguese pride. It's a monumental undertaking, but one that could see this ambitious brand competing against the legends of endurance racing. The Furia certainly has the aggressive looks of a race car, and with its Ford GT powertrain, it has the pedigree. We wouldn't be surprised to see this Portuguese powerhouse lining up on the grid in the near future.
