This is why we can’t have nice things. A C7-generation Chevrolet Corvette wearing a full Cars-like Lightning McQueen-inspired livery found itself among three vehicles impounded on Monday after police cracked down on a large car meet that authorities say spiraled into chaos.
According to the Elk Grove Police Department’s post on Facebook, what began as a gathering of enthusiasts quickly escalated into a fight. The melee forced businesses in the shopping center to temporarily close. Police weren't caught off guard by the event; authorities say officers were already conducting a targeted traffic enforcement operation focused on the meet-up. That makes the alleged behavior of the attendees seem even more puzzling, as they likely knew police were already on the scene.
View Price on AmazonBy the end of the night, officers had conducted 121 traffic stops, issued 105 citations, and towed three vehicles. The most recognizable of the bunch was the brightly decorated Corvette modeled after Pixar's famous race car. According to police, the driver earned the tow after choosing to perform a burnout during the event. Sadly, the truck that hauled off the ‘Vette did not resemble Tow Mater.
Sadly, as many enthusiasts know, it often takes only a few drivers making poor decisions to overshadow everyone having a pleasant, law-abiding time at a car meet. In his first film, Lightning McQueen began as a selfish hotshot who cared only about winning but by the end learned that community, friendship, and looking out for others mattered far more. Hopefully, this Corvette driver comes away with a similar lesson.
