Jaguar's first new-era EV, the Type 01, has been spotted with a thinner body wrap, giving us a better idea of what to expect from the electric grand tourer. Gone is the bulky camouflage, replaced by a slinky wrap that showcases the car's sleek design. The Type 01 is expected to be a game-changer for Jaguar, with a range of over 300 miles and a 0-60mph time of under 3 seconds.
The Type 01 will feature a 126-inch wheelbase and standard 23-inch wheels, making it a head-turner on the road. The car's swoopy profile is reminiscent of the Cadillac Celestiq, another extravagant ultra-luxury EV. With a massive wheelbase and large wheels, the Type 01 is bound to cause a stir wherever it goes.
Under the hood, the Type 01 will feature three electric motors producing a combined 986 horsepower and 959 lb-ft of torque. According to Jaguar, the Type 01 will have "instinctive driving dynamics" and will be an "electric car that drives like no other." The Type 01 will finally break cover in the coming months before deliveries start in 2027.
The market for high-end EVs remains challenging, as wealthy buyers continue to favor large-displacement combustion engines with as many cylinders as possible. However, Jaguar is betting big on the Type 01, with a starting price expected to comfortably exceed $100,000. The Type 01 will need to live up to the hype and deliver a thrilling experience to prospective buyers.
With its striking appearance and impressive performance specs, the Type 01 is sure to be a hit among car enthusiasts. However, it remains to be seen whether Jaguar can convince buyers to switch to an electric vehicle, especially with the likes of Bentley and other luxury brands still offering combustion engines.
