Honda launched an app that allows TrailSport owners to display and extract real-time data from their vehicles while off-roading. Called the Honda Trail Experience (HTX), it works with the 2026 Passport, Pilot, and CR-V TrailSport models and is available for free on the Apple App Store.
The app tracks 11 data points from the vehicle, including tire angle, pitch, roll, throttle position, brake pressure, and both outside and engine temperatures. It also records elevation, latitude, and longitude to create and store interactive trail maps for users to revisit any time. Drivers can simultaneously display up to six metrics on their car's infotainment screen through Apple CarPlay.
View Price on AmazonHTX also features a video-capture function that allows drivers to control their iPhone's camera from the vehicle. Users can mount phones anywhere within the car's Bluetooth range, whether that's inside or outside, and record videos or still photos through the TrailSport's touchscreen. When they're ready to share their adventures, users can export videos and photos with overlays of trail maps and performance data straight from the app.
The app was developed with input from more than 1500 people who own a 2026 Passport TrailSport, and HTX project lead Omar Saleh said the app was created to help users "drive with confidence and celebrate every adventure." Honda says it tested the app with a group of beginner, novice, and expert off-roaders on a closed course in January 2026, and updates will be released soon to address the feedback received during pre-release testing.
Honda engineers plan to expand the app's features and develop an Android version in the future. Current users can submit feedback through the app.
