Honda has revealed a development video showcasing its hotter Civic Type R based on the HRC Concept, which was first unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this year. The new model promises to deliver the ultimate in pure sports performance, with technologies cultivated by Honda's racing division, HRC, and insights from racing drivers.
The video features clips of Honda engineers working on the car's aerodynamics and snippets of impressions from drivers after taking it for a spin around the famous Suzuka Circuit. One of the drivers notes that the car is more race-oriented, has better responses, and has greater rigidity. Another commenter mentions that HRC has poured everything it could into this car, claiming it strikes a great balance.
The car's exterior design features a new bumper with pointier sculpting, larger side air intake openings, and a deeper splitter with side plates installed on the corners. Additionally, Honda has added extrusions on the front fenders, which include more aerodynamic elements. The car also features a new Akrapovic tri-tip exhaust system, with uniform-sized tips, and an HRC radiator visible through the front grille.
Inside, the car is equipped with the Google Built-in infotainment system, which is also found on other versions of the Civic. While the final look and package of the car are not yet complete, Honda has confirmed that it will arrive in less than 100 days.
