Ford has introduced the Custom Garage program, which offers pre-built performance packages and visual upgrades for the Mustang, Maverick, Bronco, and F-Series lineups. The program is an extension of Ford's parts and upgrades business, which has grown to include full-blown builds designed to meet the demands of enthusiastic customers.
The Ford Custom Garage program is expected to capitalize on the strong lineup of passion-driven offerings from the automaker. The brand understands that exclusivity is part of the world of customization and will limit certain build specifications to ensure that these vehicles are not seen on every corner. The packages will be offered as both ship-through cars and as dealer-installed options, backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.
View Price on AmazonFord invited us to a limited sampling of the offerings at Michigan International Speedway. The day began with a brief autocross behind the wheel of the new Ford Maverick SV300T. The package itself is designed for 2.0-liter-equipped Mavericks, though all-wheel drive is required on lower trims. The setup takes inspiration from street trucks of years gone by, leaning into on-road speed and driving enjoyment.
The key upgrade comes by way of a larger turbocharger sourced from the Mustang's 2.3-liter four-pot. With the help of a Ford Racing intercooler and a tune, the reworked SV300T produces 300 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Those are gains of 50 horsepower and 70 lb-ft, respectively, which is quite noticeable. The package will retail for $5,000, but that figure doesn’t include installation fees or the pricey Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires our tester wore.
