Ferrari has finally unveiled its first electric vehicle, the 2027 Ferrari Luce. The Luce is a bold step into the future of electric cars, and it's clear that Ferrari is committed to making a statement. With a dedicated EV architecture, the Luce has a unique form factor that sets it apart from other Ferraris. The car is 197.9 inches long and 60.8 inches high, making it two inches longer and two inches lower than the Purosangue.

The Luce features a number of innovative design elements, including center-opening doors and a liftgate at the rear. The headlights and taillights illuminate from dark panels, and the windshield wipers park in the upright position against the A-pillars. Aerodynamics were a key consideration in the design of the Luce, which is claimed to have a drag coefficient lower than any prior roadgoing Ferrari.

The interior of the Luce is just as impressive as the exterior. The cabin is set far forward within the all-aluminum body, and the lack of a central tunnel and rear transaxles allows for a spacious interior with seating for five. The rear liftgate opens to reveal the largest trunk ever in a Ferrari. The instrument cluster features three metal-ringed dials that are actually digital displays set within another digital display. The center dial displays speed and battery charge level, while the left dial shows available power and regen level, and the right dial is configurable.

The Luce is powered by four synchronous, permanent-magnet electric motors that produce a total of 1035 horsepower. The front pair of motors makes 282 horsepower, while the rear two produce 831 horsepower. Despite weighing 4982 pounds, the Luce can reach 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds and 124 mph in 6.8 seconds. The top speed is a claimed 193 mph. The Luce also features a launch mode that provides an extra 54 horsepower and optimizes the traction-control system for maximum acceleration.

The steering wheel features two manettino dials, a standard five-position unit, and an e-manettino dial that controls the powertrain. The wheel is flanked by two large paddles that control regen and maximum torque output. The left paddle selects among five levels of regen, while the right paddle increases available torque in five steps. This allows the driver to have more control over the car's acceleration and braking, making it a more engaging and dynamic driving experience.
