At least they're not going around sticking bananas in tailpipes. The Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) has begun cracking down on loud exhaust noises in the tony town, and have started pulling over and ticketing exotic cars, including legends like the Porsche Carrera GT.
The police say they have partnered with PipeDown Solutions for loud exhaust enforcement training, in the first such program in Southern California. After the training program was completed, it seems the police wasted no time pulling over high-end sports cars such as the Carrera GT, Audi R8, and C8-gen Chevy Corvette Z06.

But according to the police, it's too much for the citizens of Beverly Hills. In a social media post, police said that when citizens were told about the crackdown on loud exhausts, they reacted with “Finally” and “About time.”
The 3000-plus replies to their social media post don’t agree. The overwhelming majority of comments are critical of the enforcement. Many are questioning how the owner of what appears to be a factory stock Carrera GT can be ticketed for a loud exhaust. Another photo shows what looks like a stock motorcycle receiving a noise violation.
Southern California has long been one of the great capitals of car culture. From Mulholland Drive to Rodeo Drive, the region has built a global reputation around performance cars, exotic machinery, and the unmistakable sound of powerful engines echoing through canyon roads. There's always a balance to be found between respecting residents and preserving the culture that helped make Southern California an automotive paradise.
