Audi has unveiled the Nuvolari, a 1,001 horsepower V8 hybrid supercar that will succeed the R8 in 2027. The Nuvolari is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, combined with three axial flow electric motors, producing a total system output of 1,001 horsepower and 1,475 lb-ft of torque.
The Nuvolari can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of over 220 mph. The car features a plug-in hybrid powertrain, with a 7.3 kWh battery pack that provides an electric-only range of up to 15 miles. The V8 engine is capable of revving up to 10,000 rpm and produces 800 horsepower on its own.
The Nuvolari's design is inspired by the Audi Concept C, with a sleek and aerodynamic body that features active aerodynamics. The car's weight distribution is biased towards the rear, with 42% of the weight over the front axle and 58% over the rear axle. The Nuvolari rides on 20-inch wheels with 265/35 R20 tires at the front and 305/30 R21 tires at the rear.
The Audi Nuvolari will be produced in a limited run of 499 units, with the first deliveries expected in the first half of 2027. The car's price has not been announced, but it is expected to be in the range of $1 million to $1.5 million.
