The full-size Ram 1500 has long been one of our favorite pickup trucks, and soon, Ram will offer up a smaller version of the bestselling Stellantis product. The new compact pickup truck will be called Rampage and will compete with other small pickups such as the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.
According to Ram, the Rampage will be based on the same model currently available in Brazil, with a few modifications to ready it for the North American market. Despite its compact packaging, the Rampage doesn't skimp on the luxurious features we've come to love in a full-size truck, such as a power-opening tailgate.
Expert Tip: Ram is also reviving the Dakota nameplate as a mid-size pickup truck, so if the Rampage seems too small for your needs, there will soon be a medium-sized option in the Ram showroom as well.
The Rampage will be a new entrant to the compact pickup truck market when it goes on sale in the U.S. We expect to see it arrive soon, possibly as a 2028 model. While Ram hasn't announced Rampage pricing or trim levels yet, we can make an educated guess. We expect the Rampage to match the Maverick's under $30,000 price tag. A Tradesman base model and a mid-range Laramie are likely, as is an off-road-focused Rebel trim.
