The 2027 Porsche Taycan lineup will feature an optional "E-Shift" mode, which adds simulated shifts to the electric vehicle's driving experience. This feature is available on all models and can be turned off. According to Porsche, the new shifting system makes the Taycan driving experience "even more emotive and intense." The system integrates with a virtual rev limiter, simulated gear-specific drag torque, and a new take on the existing "Porsche Electric Sport Sound" that the car can play while accelerating to simulate the effects of gears.
The simulated shifting function is the biggest of a few model year changes for the Taycan line. Another upgrade comes underneath the cabin, where the larger 105-kWh "Performance Battery Plus" battery is now standard on base, 4, and 4S model Taycans. This upgrade increases the estimated range of these models, with the base model now estimated to have a range of up to 246 miles per charge, while the 4S model has an estimated range of up to 233 miles per charge.

This system is now capable of over-the-air updates, allowing for easier maintenance and improvement of the vehicle's software. Furthermore, wireless charging of smartphones is now about 1.5 times as fast as it used to be, and 16 new colors are available in what is now a 153-color paint-to-sample catalog.
All of these '27 Taycan additions are now available to order. Deliveries should start and cars should reach dealer lots in the fall of 2026. With these updates, the 2027 Porsche Taycan lineup is set to offer an even more engaging and convenient driving experience for its owners.
