The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a high-performance sports car that wears its European influences on its sleeve. It features a 670-hp, 5.5-liter V-8 engine of the flat-plane-crank variety, a recipe that Ferrari is historically known for. This powerful engine sits behind the driver and is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.
Add to that stupefyingly racy handling, Brembo brakes with enough clamping force to halt the earth's rotation, and some of the widest tires ever fitted to a mid-engined car, and the Z06 can eat Porsche 911 GT3s for breakfast around a racetrack. The Corvette Z06 is capable of reaching 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and can return to a stop in just 22.5 seconds from 150 mph.
While it is more than capable of bringing the fight to thoroughbred European sports cars for a fraction of the price, it also offers surprising daily-driver practicality with a compliant ride and two reasonably sized trunks. The Corvette Z06 is a performance bargain compared to the exotic company it keeps, with a base price of around $120,000. We'd recommend the base 1LZ Coupe to start, and then add the firm-riding Z07 Performance package if track days are on the agenda.
The Z07 package includes track-tuned suspension, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, and ultra-grippy Michelin Pilot Cup 2R ZP track tires. Selecting this package also requires the high-downforce Carbon Aero package, which adds various carbon-fiber exterior aerodynamic elements, including a front splitter and a rear spoiler. You can also add the Carbon Aero package to the standard Z06, which comes with more street-friendly Michelin Pilot Sport 4S ZP tires, steel brakes, and a more comfortable ride.
